John's Football Supporting History.
In the mid 1970's John's parents Lawrence and Pamela took John and his sister Katrina to some VFA games at The Beach Oval in Sandringham. However until we could see over the fence we spent some time playing with old biros in the dirt. John used to think that "Sandy" was a good player because everybody used to yell out "Go Sandy." John remembers one game when "Sandy" beat Oakleigh to avoid relegation. In subsequent years he used to run out with the team before the game, attend the 1/4 and 3/4 time address and even go in the rooms at 1/2 time with his dad.
John went to his first VFL game in 1977. It was South Melbourne vs Fitzroy at the Lakeside Oval. We also went to some St. Kilda games that year. John's father used take him to training at Moorabbin where he had goal kicking practice with George Young the skilled St.Kilda forward. John also played and beat Trevor Barker at Table Tennis during training one night.
In 1978 Lawrence joined John as a member of St. Kilda and he has had a membership every year since. This is John's 26th consecutive season of Membership.During this period St. Kilda has played in 4 finals series (1991,1992,1997 & 1998) and 1 Grand Final.(1997).

2003 Season

The most exciting wins of 2003 were the Brisbane game at Telstra Dome where we won by 5 points and the Kangaroos game at Telstra which we also won by 5 points. The win against West Coast by 61 points on 3rd of August at Telstra Dome started a run of 4 consecutive wins by over 10 goals. . It is the first time a side has done this since Geelong in 1989. Another highlight was the win against Richmond by 80 points for Nathan Burke's last game and the hiding given to Carlton at Optus Oval by 91 points a week later. Saints finished with 11 wins and 11 losses. It was a very good year for a season in which we did not make the finals. However, next year, Saints must make the Final Eight.

St.Kilda led by 7 points at the 34 minute mark of the last quarter and yet Carlton still had time to reduce the margin to 5 points. The ball then went to the St.Kilda forward line where a snap for goal went out on the full. A succession of contested marks brought the ball forward for Carlton when a kick off the side of the boot landed in Mil Hanna's hands. Danny Frawley arrived late conceding a 15 metre penalty and the resulting goal put Carlton in front with 4 seconds to play. The ball was bounced in the middle and the siren rang...
